How to Send a Free Text Message to Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile Phones From Your Email

Have you ever wanted to send a text from our computer via email? Its not common to be without a signal now days or a phone, but if you find that you ever are and need to get that urgent text sent, here is how you do it!

1) Create a new email. 2) Enter the 10-digit cell phone number of the person in the recipients field. If you don't happen to know the carrier for your friend's cell number (and why would you) you can look it up here CarrierLookup.com 3) Add the SMS gateway address of the recipient's cellular provider immediately after the 10-digit phone number. AT&T uses @txt.att.net, Verizon uses @vtext.com T-Mobile uses "@tmomail.net

For example, to send a message to an AT&T wireless customer, the address might look like 6463335555@txt.att.net. 4) Write your message, keeping it under the 160-character limit. 5) Send the message just like an email.

Bonus Tip: If you wish to send video or text, you will need to change the ending to mms.att.net This is the Multimedia Messaging Service standard that handles sending of multimedia files, not just plain old text. Example: 6463335555@mms.att.net
